APS Food & Nutrition Services

Food & Nutrition Services

The heart of the school beats in the kitchen, where education, nutrition, and customer Service unite to enhance and inspire our future leaders, namely the children.

APS Food and Nutrition Services provides healthy school breakfasts, lunches, and snacks to students. We provide nutrition education and work with children who have special nutrition needs. The food service program, as an extension of the educational programs of the schools, is operated under the federally-funded National School Lunch Act and Child Nutrition Act, and the National School Breakfast Act. Our vision is a partnership among students, staff, school, family, and the community in offering access to and providing attractively presented nutritious meals at the lowest possible price.

The goal of the department is to maintain high standards and accountability, while consistently exceeding the expectations of our families.

Good nutrition is key to a healthful life. Studies show that students who are well nourished have increased attendance, better grades, and are able to concentrate and perform at higher standards.

"The heart of the school beats in the kitchen, where education, nutrition, and customer service unite to enhance and inspire our future leaders — our children."
